This Health Information Specialist position is part of a small team that’s responsible for processing all medical records requests and ensuring record compliance within our electronic medical record system.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Working within two Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
  • Researching medical records requests to ensure adherence with state and federal privacy regulations.
  • Processing appropriate documentation through our disclosure management system for secure transmission.
  • Performing compliance audits on records access and other similar audit-based functions.
  • Acting as the liaison between NCSS and primary care physicians as well as other requesting parties.

Successful candidates will possess effective oral and written communication skills, be detail-oriented, possess strong customer service and time management skills, be a critical thinker as well as a coachable team player and must be able to maintain strict confidentiality. While we are willing to train and mentor the right person, ideal candidates would have background in the healthcare field, a solid understanding of HIPAA law and experience within an electronic medical record environment.
