Direct Support Professional - Teenage Boy

Northwestern Counseling & Support Services is seeking a compassionate candidate to make a difference in the life of a teenage boy with an intellectual disability. The right candidate would support this individual with skill building in both community and residential settings.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participating as part of a team with planning and initiating activities to support skill-building based on the youth’s interests and goals in their Individual Support Agreement (Treatment Plan).
  • Providing positive behavioral support and supervision while utilizing sound judgement and calm demeanor.
  • Developing positive and therapeutic working relationships.
  • Providing necessary personal and/or medical care.
  • Documenting progress on Individuals Support Agreement goals.

The ideal candidate would work with the youth several days throughout the week. Hours and days can vary, depending on the youth’s school and vacation schedule. We are looking for a strong team player who exhibits patience and flexibility and can support individuals calmly and empathetically with daily activities. Training and support will be provided. 

Reliable transportation is required. NCSS provides a comprehensive benefits package, access to a robust wellness program, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and is a short 25-minute commute from Burlington, VT.
