Third Topic: VCIL: The Vermont Center for Independent Living is a nonprofit peer organization meaning that over 90% of all its employees have a disability. The belief is, the best people to help people with disabilities are those who have life experience living with a disability. The Youth Transition Program at VCIL offers a variety of workshops and programs to help aide students preparing for life after high school. It is an opportunity to bring the student into the conversation. For him or her to think critically about what life after high school is going to look like. With an emphasis on achieving gainful employment, and role-models who have made the successful transition to life beyond high school. VCIL offers another resource for your student.
