Jim brings decades of experience in education, psychology, and community-based human services to their role on the NCSS Board of Directors. A graduate of Saint Michael’s College, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, cum laude, in 1974, and went on to receive a Master of Education and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Psychology from Springfield College in 1976.
His career in human services began in Vermont with the Department of Human Services at the Brandon Training School, where he served as an outreach worker in Franklin and Grand Isle Counties. This role provided his introduction to Franklin/Grand Isle Mental Health Services, now NCSS, where he later spent eight years working directly within the organization. These early experiences shaped a deep and lasting commitment to supporting individuals with emotional and developmental needs.
With more than ten years of direct connection to NCSS, Jim developed a strong appreciation for the organization’s mission and community impact. Following retirement, they fulfilled a long-standing goal of returning to serve, bringing valuable institutional knowledge and a passion for community-centered care.
Jim is currently serving in the second year of their fifth term on the NCSS Board of Directors, having previously completed two 4 terms, including service as Board President during the last two. He now serves as a Member-at-Large on the Executive Committee, continuing to support the organization’s mission through leadership and advocacy.
