{"id":940,"date":"2022-09-12T18:27:25","date_gmt":"2022-09-12T18:27:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncssinc.org\/news\/?p=940"},"modified":"2022-10-26T15:31:56","modified_gmt":"2022-10-26T15:31:56","slug":"ncss-here-for-you-suicide-prevention-awareness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncssinc.org\/news\/ncss-here-for-you-suicide-prevention-awareness\/","title":{"rendered":"NCSS Here for You, Suicide Prevention Awareness"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.&nbsp; Suicide is a public health problem and a leading cause of death in the United States.&nbsp; Suicide can also be prevented through increased education and prevention efforts.&nbsp; Suicide does not discriminate by gender, ethnicity, race, or economic status.&nbsp; The same can be said for suicide attempts.&nbsp; From severely depressed youth to elderly people that are isolated and feeling despondent, from the most impoverished to the wealthiest families, suicide can occur.&nbsp; What are the risk factors, are there programs and services available for individuals that are struggling with suicidal thoughts and, are there trainings that can help with understanding early warning signs?&nbsp; We will address these topics and more today.&nbsp; Plus, we will also discuss, Afterglow, a music festival for suicide awareness and prevention which will be held on September 17<sup>th<\/sup> at Hard\u2019ack Hill in St. Albans.
