NCSS is seeking compassionate, motivated, and flexible candidates who are looking to make a difference in the lives of two adult residents by providing support to these adults with intellectual disabilities and/or Autism at a new residential home in the Swanton area. The right candidate would support individuals with behavioral challenges in both community and residential settings. Successful candidates will receive significant agency support to be successful in their role and to develop as a professional in the human services field.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participating as part of a team to initiate and lead activities that support skill building based on a client's Individual Support Agreement.
  • Proactively responding to behaviors and providing needed behavioral support according to clients individualized Behavior Support Plans.
  • Assessing and adjusting the environment to ensure proper support and supervision while utilizing sound judgement and calm demeanor.
  • Developing positive and therapeutic working relationships with residents. Using a connectivity and relationship building model to support healthy and safe living.
  • Supporting residents with communication needs. Learning different communications tools and support the resident to use them.
  • Providing needed personal and/or medical care for residents. Supporting access to all the other eligible supports for each individual resident.
  • Documenting progress on Individuals Support Agreement goals.
  • Working with residents to develop a healthy and safe lifestyle while they live in the residential home.

The ideal candidate will be a strong team player, exhibit patience, and have the ability to calmly and empathetically validate individuals during challenging situations. Therapeutic support experience is preferred; and we are willing and able to train someone who is ready to support adults with intense behavioral needs. Ongoing clinical support and training will be provided regularly for the residential support team. Reliable transportation is required.
