Therapeutic Foster Care

Looking for an individual or couple to provide Therapeutic Foster Care to a 6 year old boy. Applicant should be someone who is open and willing to manage some of the difficult behaviors but not take it personally if he has an aggressive episode. It is important for this client to feel safe and loved with opportunities for 1:1 attention as either the only or youngest child in the home. Client does well with and will require a caregiver that can be clear, consistent, firm and loving. This is a 24/7 commitment for at least one year. Applicant must have a valid driver’s license in good standing and be willing to transport to some appointments. Training and intensive supports to be provided. Applicant must have good communication skills, be organized, be a strong team player and be both genuine and compassionate. Applicant should also have the ability to redirect and handle some challenging behaviors in an appropriate way; and basic understanding of mental illness. Applicant would be expected to work closely with the parent(s), respite providers and treatment team to ensure consistency in approaches to meeting child and family goals.
