Student Assistance Program Counselor (SAP)

Seeking a full-time Student Assistance Program Counselor for the Franklin West Supervisory Union. This position will work with the supervisory union and NCSS to identify students with substance use problems, intervene, and when necessary, refer them to community agencies for more specialized or intensive services. Primary duties include: screening students, making appropriate referrals upon screening and follow-up with students to ensure they obtain the treatment they need; participating on a team that regularly reviews school policy; providing trainings and consultations to staff and distributing handouts/ads/information about services to faculty and staff; facilitating parent/community awareness evenings/dialogues and providing parent groups as needed; attending open house/parent teacher conferences and educating parents to SAP services annually; attending support team meetings; cooperating and collaborating with agency providers, community agencies, and resources; maintaining a current list of treatment providers/referral sources; meeting and working with faculty to develop integrated alcohol, tobacco, or other drug education; presenting prevention programs in the classroom and conducting education support groups. Bachelor's degree in the Human Services field is required, Master's Degree preferred.

The ideal candidate will be collaborative, detail-oriented, and possess a strengths-based approach to working with adolescents and families. The individual should be self-motivated, organized, and a team player. This position requires a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and personal vehicle with current registration, state inspection, and appropriate insurance.
Bachelor's degree in the Human Services field is required. Master's degree is preferred.
